you really did see a lot

this movie didn't quite make me feel bad for elizaeth holmes, but it got kinda close. this ones another one where it's like... you hear the premise and you go "what the hell sure" but when you watch it it's really good. So i found out about elizabeth holmes and theranos back in 2020 something from a youtube video and she never really occupied any space in my mind after that video ended except for a few references to her in like,, family guy. but this movie gives you a little bit of a glimpse into her as a person and not just a scammer and it's all just,,, confusing?? she's a confusing woman and i didn't quite understand her motive in agreeing to do this movie. but then as time goes on you realize this is more than a glimpse into her last days as a free woman... you actually realize that a bit early in,,

i wanna say the whole "we were in elizabeth's home all up in her business" is only about a third of the movie, its about three hours and it follows what at least to me is broken down into threee parts, theres the shit with liz at home, theres trying to figure out why this happened, and theres trying to figure out to what extent her relationship with billy is like,,, real. cause that motherfucker just cant be real he's such an enigma of a man. this movie was interesting...

primetime

★★★★☆

from the moment i saw the trailer for this movie i KNEW i needed to watch it.

i was so ecstatic to see it and it didn't dissapoint. this movie was WEIRD it was weird and odd. like who even thinks "i wanna make a movie based on chris hansen and to catch a predators rise and i want robert pattinson to be chris hansen" like that sounds absolutely ridiculous but FUCK it was so good

i'm writing this review a bit after ive seen this movie twice (with a third planned theater watch) and it just has not been able to leave my head since seeing it. skylar gisondo is great as our scrappy underdog. i like the grooming subplot he had going on, their relationship was really tense and bordered on uncomfortable at some points but it was entertaining and gave us the best song on the score and an excuse to say "theyre doing insane things to chris hansen on ao3" so it gets a pass lol. but like, i understand why they were written that way. it probably WOULD be uncomfortable to be a decoy, espescially one chris took such an interest in.

merrit wever as andie is so fucking good, you can feel her being the glue that held the show together. i think andie and dan (aswell to xavier and del) do a good job of showing that while chris was the face of predator, there were other people helping it happen. from decoys to rpoducers, and that show also had an effect on them, chris' actions had effects on them when it came to predator.

this movie was so good i can't wait for it to reach streaming

akira

★★★☆☆

akira was a weird movie for me to see, because i'd heard about it and had it hyped up to me for so long that i kind of already knew going into it i'd be sor of dissapointed. not saying it's bad by any stretch of the imagination it was wonderful. it was weird and freaky and kind of gross and i loved it all, i just think maybe going into it with so much hype caused it to fall in some departments for me. like it was weird and i really didn't understand what was going on until a good little bit into the movie but it was about the third act where i kind of got it you know? i also saw the original dub which i feel also maybe hindered my enjoyment of it. i don't think they had any actual voice direction given to them so a lot of the deliveries seem kind of out of place and aimless.

tony

★★★★☆

this movie... so i went in on a whim after missing the showtime for a completely different movie and knowing nothing about anthony bourdain, and you know im gonna keep my knowledge of him strictly to this movie, cause i like the lead character in this movie completely divorced from the real live counterpart. it was a very summer movie, the whole thing takes place over one summer and i think they really captured that feeling of summer super greatly. i see tony in this as a less charming ferris beuler, with how SOMEHOW things just keep going in his favor. yeah i think tony's a shit guy, but i enjoyed his character, i think dominic sessa does a phoenomenal job in this. I really bought the bonds of the cast except for the love interest... like i really could've done without that specific plot point but i mean i guess that's how he ends up in rhode island...

i want your sex

★★★☆☆

this movie was really fun! i liked the visuals of it, it feels a little bit too modern but i think that's a good seeing as it has to do with a modern art studio and theres a real focus on this current generation (mine hi)'s relationship with sex. I also really enjoyed watching erika and elliots innappropriate ass workplace relationship lol,,

it lost me in a few places but really grabbed me in others. it had a lot to say and kinda funny ways of saying it.

i really wanna see cooper hoffman in more movies!! ive gotta check out his filmography,, he's super charming in this and the long walk

is the highlight of july movies for me...

this is one of those movies that i went in blind for and that was the perfect space to go into this with. and then i saw it two more times in theaters because it was so fucking good.

i think the twist is maybe a bit obvious, but when the nature of the whole st up is revealed you don't ever feel like the movie loses steam, which is something i really appreciate. i don't really find joe rogan all that funny in most roles but god this one. he's so believable and just naturally funny in this. and his chemistry with oliva wilde is so energetic. i truly believe these two are married and desperately need something to fix and or spice up their marriage.

i think the directing in this is super yummy, i like how tense some of the scenes near the beggining feel due to the angling of the camera and how it's edited. and some of the enviromental storytelling they get across with just the colors of the spaces, it was really good. i like the intimacy in the scenes with penelope cruz and,,, like everyone. i was recalling specifically her scenes with joe rogan, but seeing her interactions with olivia wilde's character was really doing something to me.

speaking of seeing olivia wilde be kind of a flustered and undercover pervert in this movie and then seeing her be an unabashed pervert in i want your sex right after was really fun. i reccomend those two as a double feature.
