movies and seasons // sept. 11
right now i'm in the process of working on coding out my movie log/general media log, and it's got me thinking about movies and seasonal associations, cause like i dunno. up until recently i had a very finite number of movies that i would rotate in watching. so like now i just kind of associate those movies with the times that i'd just so happened to repeatedly watch them and time and i wanna talk about that now....
i'll start with fall casue it's my favorite season and i probably have the most to say about fall movies. The ultimate fall movie for me is jennifers body... i dunno i think it's cause i believe it takes lace around fall but like,,, something about the atmosphere and the vibe that movie quintassential fall. I would also say the movie red state... i know no one probably even cares about that one but like i do, and i watch it semi normally lol. And virgin suicides i'd consider like a late fall early winter-ish type movie. Donnie Darko i'd describe like smack dab of fall around octoberish cause like, duhhh lol.
then summer movies, we're doing this in the order of favorite to least favorite seasons i've decided. Scott pilgrim is definitely what i'd call a summer movie, but probably more late summer transitioning into fall. I know it's like the exact opposite timeline of the movie but in MY defense it was RELEASED in the LATE SUMMER of 2010 and that's the only justification you'll be hearing from me on the subject matter. i watch it year round. Brokeback mountain as well i'd say is a summer movie. and this one's pretty new cause i only JUST saw it so it's technically not in rotation just yet but i'm claiming tony as movie i'll probably continue to come back to in coming summers. Dinner in america i'd also call a pretty summery movie. You know fucking around getting up to bullshit in the summer. moonlight as well.
then spring movies... i feel like i don't have as many movies for spring, maybe like,,, i'd say spring transitioning to summer is pretty good for a losers take all rewatch. cat in the hat, any of the equestria girls movies even the one that most definitely takes place in summer. the tinkerbell series i'd also say are pretty spring to me but obviously not the one about the winter faries lol. and SPECIFICALLY ted 2. not the first one, JUST the second one.
winter movies are ted 1. that's a christmas movie to me like through n through. Then also priscilla for like, the "uary" months definitely...i'd say any barbie movies i rewatch i usually do so around this time of year. barbie and bratz are staunchly winter to me and surprisingly monster high. i guess i maybe associate dolls with winter, we wont get into that. the chainsaw man movie i'd descibe as winter. Any concert movies i dedicate to this time of year too like live in denver, live in phoenix, shit like that.
please don't think less of me because of my associations :(
i fucking HATE my job // sept. 8
the title says more than I ever could really. my job is the fucking worst and I swear every day I’m there i swear i consider quitting more and fucking more i can’t stand it
waitressing is already a pretty unforgiving job, especially in fucking texas. i get paid 2.13 an hour and because i make tips im supposed to be happy that even when working my ass off for 40 hour weeks my paychecks still don’t even crack 100 dollars. like “tips make up for it” okay that’s fine and dandy in a well established restaurant, but i’m working somewhere that’s brand spanking new in the middle of nowhere. like no, tips don’t “make up for it” because there’s no one here
i think i was too spoiled and took the first restaurant i worked at for granted, because there wasn’t a day i didn’t come out of there without at least 250 in tips, but now here i have to work grueling hours doing the work of five different people all to go home with maybe 50 bucks in my pocket by the end of the night
and don’t get me started on my fucking COWORKERS i’ve always kind of had a goob from meet the robinsons “everyone’s out to get
me” mentality, and it’s made me a bit anxious about even talking to my coworkers in the past, but i’ve been trying to get over that, you know? like these are people i’m spending 40 hours of my week with, least i can do is maybe converse with em, bond over shared torture. and a lot of my old mentality was coming into established work places, you know where everyone already had a dynamic. i’ve been here since before the beginning.
but the people i work with are the most annoying and high school clique type immature ASSHOLES oh my fucking GOD
actually i take that back because i’ve worked with high schoolers who weren’t as insufferable as the GROWN ADULT WOMEN i find myself working with. oh my god
dude i don’t think anyone i work with would take the time to find my site and read my blog, so i can just be unfiltered about this very specific and insufferable fucking interaction i had
so i posted this tiktok with a trending
my little pony parody audio with the text #ihatemyjob AND SOMEHOW one of my coworkers sees it and instead of idk laughing and scrolling, maybe not taking it to heart, coming to me personally if she figured i had a problem about it, she posts on her fucking INSTAGRAM NOTES the modern equivalent to a myspace status “who are these pony ass bitches you speak of” sister NO ONE it’s an audio, it means NOTHING but the fact you took it seriously and personally is so funny and then proceeded to POST about the problem you had and then BLOCK ME on tiktok when i finally followed you back cause you were in my “people you may know” fucking hilarious.
no offense but the people i work with are all kind on NPC types to me, i don’t think much about them outside of work and im sure its mutual, but that interaction made me realize maybe its not. and thats weird. i dont want you thinking about me outside of work, i dont even want you thinking about me at work if im not there
anyways, at my job we’re a full service type restaurant. so we have hostesses that will sit people, and often times we have people wander in, ignore the sign, sit down anywhere and fuck up rotation. so yesterday, labor day, somehow our BUSIEST FUCKING DAY SINCE WEVE OPENED, we had a swarm of people and taking care of all of them didn’t give people much time to clean up after tables that had left. So this one coworker who appoints herself manager when it’s convenient to boss people around, says “hey we need to really clean up” so i’m like okay cool i don’t have any tables i’ll clean
as im cleaning a table a family walks in i say “hi!! would you guys mind waiting at the host stand?” as polite as i can, i know im maybe not LOOKING at them cause im kinda occupied, but i didn’t say it in any rude sort of way.
this woman (my coworker) proceeds to fucking TAKE ME TO THE BACK AND SAY “hey you shouldn’t speak to customers that way, they were offended and even i was a little offended hearing you say that, you really need to watch how you talk to guests”
now i know i maybe have a hard time with tone when it comes to joking around but when im at work bitch i’m masking to the GODS you’d think i’m the most polite bitch on earth if you just so happen to catch me any random day at my job. because i’ve been doing this for about three years now SO QUITE LITERALLY WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT
and even then, if i HADNT said anything and they sat down then it would’ve been “mani why didn’t you tell them to wait?” “mani why haven’t you greeted that table” OR if i did fucking greet them “mani why aren’t you cleaning our tables?” OUR, OUR as in their tables, because i know how to do my job and fucking pre buss my tables.
time and time afuckinggain whatever im doing just so happens to be THE WRONG thing and i can’t fucking win with these people
yesterday was ESPECIALLY bad, like i said it’d been the busiest day since we’d opened, and so we weren’t prepared for that. we were wildly understaffed, so from the moment i walked in before i had even put my apron on i had tables. but it’s fine, im here im on the clock ill help where needed.
and speaking of helping where needed mind you i had to GET MY ASS IN THE BACK AND DO DISHES IN ORDER TO CLOSE THE NIGHT BEFORE, stay here till midnight, and hop right back up here at five, but somehow i’m the lazy one, anyways back to labor day
so we’re slammed and we’ve got two people plus an incompetent boss in the kitchen, a table asks me “hey where’s our food” i go “oh im really sorry, this is the busiest we’ve been so we’re a little behind on orders right now”
i shit you not this woman WALKS OUT and here comes ms fucking not a manager “hey mani you really need to watch the way that you speak to customers cause she was not happy with that and she complained about your service and how you were everywhere BUT her table”
and i really need you guys to remember from the moment i walked in i had to SIT people, take THAT table, got hit with three more tables while getting their drinks, AND had to fucking run around running other people’s food
OH HAHA SPEAKING OF so i’m writing this at said terrible job waiting for a ride because my coworkers came together and decided to send me home early (because of course we don’t have a fucking manager on shift) and you wanna know WHYYYYY they decided to send me home early? because someone else happened to run two of my plates
I SHIT YOU NOT. i’m being sent home because my coworker, who was in the back already and therefore obviously would’ve known when my food was done BEFORE i did because im in the dining room watching the door and checking on tables, had to run my food. TWICE. just twice, two plates.
so the bartender who i usually love, comes up to me and goes “heyyyyyy so she just had to run both those plates and ummmm that’s money she could’ve made” YEAH SURE i’ll be sure when i clock out to give her the two dollar tip the table left me, im so sorry.
being a team player is always the
most stressed part of this job, which i understand because we’re understaffed so we can’t function without a little bit of teamwork, but it seems like im the only one who’s actually doing the shit. i clean other people’s tables, i get my ass in the kitchen when people need condiments and the cooks are slammed, or i clean tables when someone’s double sat, i fucking do dishes cause we only have a dishwasher sometimes, i play expo, i run food, i’ve even had to go my ass behind the bar, i make myself available for any shift because i know most of the women i work with are mothers and are sometimes not available because their kids, and i’m not expecting even a thank you from my coworkers, just a little bit of acknowledgment when the shoes on the other foot, like a “oh you helped me i helped you” BUT FUCKING NO it’s actually fucking ridiculous i can’t stand it
i have to be host, expo, to go worker, dishwasher, bartender, server, all for 2.13 an hour and my manager has the fucking nerve to call me over some bullshit extra 2.54 to my check cause i just so happened to not get enough cash tips quite LITERALLY fuck you. and all those positions i have to fill in? GET PAID FAIRLY HOURLY you bet your ass, but i’m expected to step up while still being paid 2.13
i need a new fucking job
this is the title // sept. 1
